For 13 years I’ve called Valparaiso home. In those 13 years I’ve started a family and a business here and now consider it to be my “home town”. Vaplo, as we call it, is a relatively small town at 32,000 residents but it’s growing very quickly. It’s a friendly and safe community due in large part to the efforts of our local police department.
When Cory & Erika hosted their Second Amendment shoot in Terre Haute a number of YouTube personalities came to Indiana to attend. My friend and fellow YouTuber HossUSMC was one of those personalities came to town and who happens to have fans at my local police department. The night before we were to be at Cory & Erika’s he called me from Valpo PD and said to come on down and hang out, which I did. It turns out I had some fans at the PD too and they were surprised to learn I lived in town.
While we were there talking shop about guns and gear it came up in conversation that our SWAT team could use a couple of new rifles. A light bulb went off, I could reach out to some of my industry contacts and see if I could scare up a couple of rifles to help my PD out.
The next day I called Windham Weaponry and talked with Todd Coons who heads their Law Enforcement Sales Division. Todd said he would be glad to send me a couple of new MPC rifles for my PD. I reviewed the MPC rifle back in August of 2012 and have been shooting it now for about a year. It’s a great rifle and now Windham Weaponry was going to donate two of them to my local boys in blue. Outstanding!
A few days later I was talking to David Fillers of Huntertown Arms about Windham Weaponry donating a couple of rifles to my PD and he said, “How about adding two Kestrel 5.56 suppressors to them?” Really? You would do that? Yup, they were more than glad to help out my local PD. This has gone from outstanding to freaking amazing.
So we setup a date to do a presentation of the rifles. It took us a few weeks to get schedules aligned and get the donated hardware shipped and all the paperwork done. Throughout this process Officer Tobey of the Valpo PD was a tremendous help.
A few days before the presentation of the rifles I was in Blythes Sports, my local gun shop, and was talking to David Blythe. I was telling Dave about the upcoming presentation and he said, “Do you have any sights for the rifles?” I said I didn’t and he immediately offered to donate two EOTech 512 red dot sights. Ok, this has now gone way past freaking amazing.
Today Chief Brickner accepted the rifles, suppressors and sights on behalf of a very grateful Valparaiso Police Department. I will share the video of the presentation here shortly on the Military Arms Channel.
I want to thank all of the companies who have donated to my police department. I also want to thank all of you, my viewers/readers, because if it weren’t for your continued support I wouldn’t have the industry contacts that made this all possible. The firearms community is awesome, we’re a community of like minded folks that love our country and our freedoms and who help each other out when needed. You guys rock.
